1997 Disco I Security system issues
Ok - here's a stumper for those who happen to own a Hawkeye unit and a Disco I: i.e., radio codes no longer talking to security sys as the radio will no longer unlock; ignition key will turn and crank engine but the engine will not start; key will turn off ignition but cannot be removed from steering column lock until battery disconnected. Plus the following DTC's: P1621 and P1622 which basically indicate the ECU is not receiving the correct security codes in time.
Any suggestions on a fix would be appreciated

If it where me I'd buy a paired ECU/alarm and go from there. Do you have the radio code? Being the ever curious I'd also be checking the condition of the existing ECU, alarm and radio for water corrosion. Paul Grant has had units from the same vehicle for sale, his contact is in my signature.

I will be taking a closer look at both units (I am reluctant to ditch the ECU as it has been chipped by Tornado UK) and I do have the radio codes. My suspicion is that it may well be the security unit and I do have a spare of that item but how to link it/get it talking with my ECU is the question.

Some 97's in my forum experience didn't need pairing when swapping ECUs, some did mine included in that group which was pre AEL. Do you know of an indie LR shop? A T4 was the defacto for marriage but an Autologic may do so as well. Always wanted a Hawkeye but they're overkill with a Disco, more of a P38 gotta have. I understand the issue with the ECU being chipped, have you spoken with Mark Adams about your issue?
