93 e10 or 87 ethanol free?
If you can find a station that doesn't sell ethanol in your fuel buy from them. My truck runs rougher on E10 and gets less mpg. Don't run E10 in boats or 2 stroke lawn equipment as phase separation can occur and dilute the oil
Tweak-add one of these to your lawnmower, I have one and if I am going to let my mower sit for more than a week I shut off the fuel valve and let it run out of fuel.
Open it when I need to start her back up, works everytime.

Spencer-as for why premium, as stated these trucks do NOT have a EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve.
The purpose of that valve is to recirculate exhaust back into the combustion chambers to be burned.
This does 2 things, it lowers combustion temps to prevent pre-detonation.
The lower combustion temps lower the NOX in the exhaust.
Another way to lower emissions is with SAI (secondary air injection) like on DII's, that forced fresh air into the the cats to heat them up faster and then they burn hotter and then the exhaust is cleaner.
Premium burns cooler and slower than regular.
Run regular grade gas and the combustion temps will be to high and the motor oil will bake inside the heads and you will get sludge build up.
To much sludge and you will clog the oil return passages, then your engine will be starved for oil and it will self destruct, lots of threads on hear about this.
Not to mention like was already said, your MPG will be less so you will not be saving any money anyway because you will be buying more gas.
If you wanted to go to the gas station more often and change the oil more and use Royal Purple then go ahead and use 87 octane, but it will still cost you more money because you will need to change the oil every 3,000 miles and lose 10-15% in MPG.
Premium on average costs a extra $5 for every 20 gals of gas.
If you get a Shell Saver Card like I have you will save $.05 per gallon on Shell gas.
http://www.shell.us/home/content/usa...aver_card.html
It is a debit card, use it at the pump and the $.05 savings will show up on your bank statement.
No credit restrictions, just link to your checking account and use it.
It only works at Shell stations.
