94 Discovery NO START after it runs a few minutes
94 discovery is not starting after a few minutes of running, it will turn over strong and has fuel pressure (tester on the rail), has spark at the coil wire w consistant hits.. i replaced both relays and fuel pump several months ago when it had a no start issue. This has me stumped because it has consistant spark and fuel pressure then after lots of cranking it will suddenly start but no fuel build up in exhaust which tells me possibly injectors are not letting fuel in.. several of the sensors have been raplaced prior trying to figure out the previous no start issue, i know the TPS will cut off the negative power supply to pump (posative always on) if tps fails. or intermittent but why is rail pressure strong? main relay and fuel relay replaced. When it does finally start, it starts like an electrical connection all the sudden gets juice and runs great and does not stall out but if i stop it and try an d restart it will not start. replaced rotor just in case it was not sending spark out to plugs. no change, check coil leads and connections to coil, anyone have any suggestions please post or eme. 20 years working on these piles and i still seem to have random issues... weird!
Perhaps the "amplifier" module of the ignition system. Breaking down or getting overheated. Wonder if this is a timeing issue. Have you loosened and moved around your distributor to see if your timeing is advanced or not? I would definitly check the timeing if everything else shows good. Possibly the ignition timeing is off and can account for the sperratic change. Could be due to the stop and start location of your timeing components.
Timing solid n locked in.. this is dist motor.. there is no crank or cam sensor.. i replaced the amplifier when i replaced nearly everything that could cause an intermittent no start 6 months ago.. i always question aftermarket parts so yes it could be intermittent.. but it gets a solid coil hit while cranking, wouldnt get a coil hit if the ign amp was faulty..
So it feels like the ign switch might be so loose. it feels like when it starts its because the ign switch inside while rotating the key all the sudden hits the right spot... then vroom it starts.. my intuition is that the main computer is not sending start signal to electronic inj and no fuel is pulsing into engine at inj. im gonna hit it with starting fluid and see if it runs every time.. then i guess i start checking pin voltages and goto the source of either no signal or no voltage or no ground..
best guess is faulty TPS or the ign Electrical portion is falling apart inside tumblers..
Still interested in others feed back on similar issues...

FOUND issue> even though COil sparks coil lead there was no spark at plugs. Check distributor leads , no voltage to pickup, should be some low voltage 2-3 volts.. NONE< i replaced ign amplifier 6 months ago with an INtermotor 15410 so i still had the old OEM one which BTW was not the issue 6 months ago, it was intermittent fuel pressure. So i replaced the IGN Amplifier with the OEM part and VRoom! she runs on every start... OK so this is a common scenerio for us shop owners, CHEAP JUNK PARTS which do not last and do not help customer relations.. Be advised that if this amplifier fails in 6 months lets assume its made in China... After 20 years of LR repair i find that factory parts are the best way to go! Ordered a factory rover amplifier to carry as back up.. thanks for the feedback i rarely post unless otherwise stumped.. thanks Dave B
