well guys funny thing today the truck idles at 750 my tach is off what the hell! i happened to notice this at my emissions retest today. and also any ways to lower idle hc"s or hydro carbons? sorry if i missspelled doing a fast reply. the trucks been siting so i just put a full tank and i think ima just run it. the hc's on my last test were 489 and they were 389 today so i think just a little driving and ill be good. but comments and opinions welcomed about fixing the tach's signal????????

 

By "off" if you mean tach reads zero, check small wire that plugs in on a tab on the back of alternator, not the larger bolt on cables.

Also check battery with voltmeter, should be 13.8 - 14.4 when running at idle. If tach is not running many times that indicates alternator has died. Don't drive truck too far if you have not tested the battery, the dead altenator will allow battery to keep running down and leave you stranded.

 

The tach reads 1000_1100 in gear when it actaully reads about 650_750 in gear so its off bye like 400_450. Ayone pull a dash mines pretty bent up so I thought id pull on n install it myself I've done it before just on cars not suv. Please comment!

 

so last night i cheked that tab on the alternator and it was a little loose so i tightened it on battery seems fine starts the car with easy! I CLEANED THE CAP N ROTOR THEY LOOK NEW JUST A LITTLE CORROSION BUILD UP SO IMA SEE IF THAT HELPS sorry for caps lock wasnt looking. other then that ima run seafoam threw the engine
