Who has been replacing the gasket?
How long are these gaskets lasting each time?

How long between each explosion?

If it has done it three times, I would suspect there is an issue with your workmanship or something. Are you following the instructions in the RAVE?

Hi

What there is special instructions for the Land Rover's. I thought it the same way to install gaskets on all vehicles. Where can I find this RAVE? I have thought about replacing the motor.

Thank You
Walter

Forget about the Ford 3.9 V6 as an engine replacement. All of the electronic stuff for the engine management, wiring , and so many other things would be so different, it would be a total can of worms even if it did fit.

Realize that you have a vehicle that is not like an average car that you may have dealt with in the past.

Download the RAVE and study it. It has basically all the documentation for all the systems on your Discovery.

Don't assume that you can just jump in and start performing repairs on it from your familarity with other vehicles.

If you did the same basic repair three times, and it keeps blowing up every time, I would think you have missed something significant. I would also be concerned about whatever else you may have damaged as a result of it blowing apart.

Sorry I cannot be more specific, but that is the first I have ever seen of such a problem. Maybe someone else can provide some more specific information.

Sounds kind of dangerous in my opinion.

Hi

I went out and tighten the nut on top of the shift. It did not make any differance. the nut was totally off. Any other ideas. I have found a 3.9 V8 motor that has 158,000 miles on it for $400. Or is there any there motor I can put in the Discovery with much problems?

Thank You
