Did you put the nut back on and tighten it?
Have you read the part in the tech section about fixing a broken ignition switch?

RIGHT! What do you think THIS is?

Sometimes Dweb and Pirate can be truly entertaining... albeit a bit too harsh at times but this could have been a good one over there. ya know what I mean...

Is that 3.9 a Land Rover 3.9 by any chance?

What condition is it in? If you are going to put in a differenet engine, go thru it good before you install it, much easier to fix it out of the vehicle than have to go thru installing it twice.

Download the RAVE and see if you missed anything(sounds like you did). Go through each step EXACTLY to be positive. Then report back what you found. If you say nothing, then you need to look again. You should never have a "BOOM" coming from the intake after a simple gasket change unless you missed something.

Sounds like vapors plus ignition source, very strange occurrence indeed for an internal combustion engine.

Yes, but it sounds like his is trying to be an external combustion engine...

Maybe the block is cracked allowing vapors to escape and ignite externally .......................
