Default 96 Disco

Well I got the drive shaft back in and bungee corded the hood down and took the 96 for a quick ride around the block. All kinds of power steering noise..........no fluid. That explains the mess on the under side. Add that to list to sort out. Overall she did pretty good. I will title and register her on Monday. Then I can degreaser her start on the 60K items.

I need to loose the bungees. The Rave doesn't seem to give any details on the hood latch mechanism. Any suggestions?

Thanks RS

I changed the hood release cable on mine a couple of years ago and what a PITA that was......it would actually be easier to work on the latch if the radiator was out.......

I put in hood pins a few months ago and I am really happy with them. I had one sticky cable and another cable break so I got tired of fixing them. I made some supports to add strength to the radiator support where I put the pins. I'll get some pics if anyone is interested.

That's an interesting idea.....

Pics would be great. Where did you get the pins? Did you have to fabricate anything? Or was it just bolt on and cut some holes?

Thanks

RS

I just cut some aluminum angle, drilled, and bolted it in place. It's nothing fancy but it keeps that support from twisting when putting pressure on the pins.

Pins from autozone for $9.99 came with everything needed, I added the brakets but they aren't necessary.

They are really simple to install, just drill for the pins and install those. After that, make a mark on your hood where the pins are going to go through, I used some grease on the tip of the pins and then paint pen to make a mark. I measured about 10 times so I was 100% sure it was going to align before drilling into my hood. Last, adjust the pin height for a snug fit and you're done.
