97 disco Electrical issues with side markers/turn signals/
Hello,
I have a 1997 Discovery that I received from a friend that had been sitting for years. I have refurbished some of the braking system, floor rust, and repaired several broken window regulators. I am experiencing several electrical issues, and need some insight where to look for issues.
What works:
Headlights(high and low)
taillights
brake lights
dashlights.
What doesn't work:
Running Lights
Turn Signals
Hazards
I checked the fuse panels under the hood(30 amp), and in the drivers side under the dash. I pulled each fuse and checked separately.
Please advise what I should be looking at next. The switch on the steering column seems to operate the headlights just fine, but is it still suspect?
I did download the electrical schematics, but I don't know the exact location of some of those components and which to start looking at.
I appreciate your time and insight,
Paul

Using the schematics, trace the circuits back to the power source. Identify the fuses and check for 12V at the right locations in the circuits.
The Electrical Test Manual (ETM) has an index to help find the location of all the components, connectors, and splices. Make sure to use the '97 manual and schematics.

JohnZo,
I had checked, and it has power at the underhood and in-car fuses. It obviously has power to the stalk to turn on the headlights as well. There is no power at the bulbs for any of the outside running lights. I appreciate your suggestion, but I was hoping for something a little more specific(i.e. "sounds like it's either the brown box behind the glove box, or check for xyz somewhere specific".
I mentioned that I had already downloaded the schematics, but was having a little difficulty correlating between the schematic and where some of those items are in vehicle. If you can give me a few more places between the stalk switch and the bulbs to check, that might prove helpful.
Thank you,
Paul

You probably already know this, but if none of these lights work, then check for power at F2 and F8 (upstream side). If no power, then check further upstream of the Main Lighting Switch (look in the power distribution section to find the fuse feeding the switch).
I did not see the turn signals in the diagrams, only running lights. Can you find the turn signal diagram? That's probably most important.

Which one is the 'fascia fuse box' location? The underhood one(nearest the front fascia) or the interior one adjacent the steering wheel?
