Talking 97 Disco Finally RUNS!

Just finished running for 20 minutes at 2500 rpm. White smoke at first but then cleared out and runs great. More updates soon.

I bet it was all of the crap in the cats from when the motor took a dump and was passing a ton of coolant.. I agree on the oh scheisse on stopping when things got funky. Been there done that. We had the same thing happened when we rebuilt a friends 13B rotary.. It had dumped coolant when it blew into the cats and when we first started it up after a rebuild (a lesson in futility in itself) it put out a huge cloud of schmutz..

I redid the valley pan gasket using RTV this time. That might have stopped coolant from entering the system. I'm still not sure if the oil actually had coolant in it, but changed it out to at least rule out the engine assembly lube fouling things up. Waiting for the old oil to separate.

It started fine, but with lots of white smoke but since it wasn't dying like before I decided to let it keep running. After about 5 minutes the smoke faded away to nothing. The last 15 minutes went flawlessly.

We drove it to dinner to celebrate and thankfully made it there and back

Two strange things though:
Still smokes a lot until the engine gets going.
Idles ok in neutral but struggles and dies sometimes in drive when stopped.

I have a feeling this isn't over yet, but thank's so much guys
