97 Disco Won't start
My 97 Discovery alarm hasn't been working for about a 6-8 months and on Monday, the red blinking light came back on but stays red when driving the truck but the alarm still doesnt sound if I open a door once it's armed.
This morning, the truck wouldn't turn over and I could only hear the starter clicking but there was enough juice for the clock, interior lights, etc. Is my alarm draining the battery and if so, where should I start?
I recently replaced the stereo with one I ordered from Crutchfield so I'm not sure if this is causing issues with the alarm or not.
Any help would be great because I have to deal with a death wobble issue this weekend too

Something is draining the battery, and when you get ready to attach a charger or boost it from another vehicle first hold down or disconnect the hood switch. If truck electrically wakes up, security system can trigger if hood open.
Ok, So I go out this morning and it sounds as though the clicking noise is coming from all the doors and the hood, like there is a short in the alarm and then my battery goes out again. A few minutes later, the lights are back on and the car starts. So I shut the hood and next thing I know, my alarm isn't working again and the red light on the dash is out?
I'm stuck on where to go from here. Any suggestions?

Red light should be out if the alarm is disarmed... Are you using a fob or the key to arm the alarm ?
I'd start checking grounds.. When things get squirely, There's usually a ground issue..
The alternator drives the tach. So if the tach is working, Chances are the alternator is as well.. Check that ground between the battery and the alternator and the one going from the battery to the body/frame right behind the battery...
Even though the ground is connected, The wire can also fail.. Take a jumper cable and jump the negative battery terminal to the engine somewhere..

I'm using a key. I have a used fob but havent had it programed for the car yet. Checking the grounds now.
These are the days I miss having a garage or a driveway to work on my truck.
