Default 98 Disco 1 no start when below freezing.

My Disco has started an annoying new trend. It refuses to start when it's below freezing outside. It will crank and crank but not fire at all. As soon as it's above freezing it starts on the first crank every time. This is rather frustrating since I live in Canada and it's almost always below freezing this time of year. The truck has no DTC's and has new plugs and plug wires.
Any suggestion?

Thanks all!

Phil

Do you keep it on a trickle charger? What is a DTC?

Default Throttle plate clean?

Maybe try an additive to the gas tank to remove water. Make sure the muffler drain holes are open too. Have you cleaned the throttle plate and IACV passages lately?

DTC= diagnostic trouble codes, of which it has none. I don't have it on a trickle charger, but it won't start with a booster pack either. There is injector cleaner in the gas that should look after water too. I have not cleaned the throttle plate or the IACV. My Disco was sitting for almost a decade and I've only had it on the road a couple of months. It's just weird that it starts instantly when it's above freezing. I'll clean the TB and IACV anyway, because that's basically free.

Thanks guys!

Phil

On diesels sometimes fuel filter or water separator can freeze up not letting any fuel through. I am not sure if somehow the filter could have water in it and not let the gas through ?

Maybe try a whiff of starting fluid, if it fires then it must be a fuel problem.

Dude! My first car was a '72 MGB GT with crazy loose wire wheels. Man, I wish I had kept that car.......

I pushed it almost as much as I drove it, but I loved that car. :-)

Check the connectors on the computer under the hood. they may be corroded and not make contact in the cold weather.
