Smile Disco 1 Body Swap

Hi everyone,

I'm about to start work on swapping a body off a donor 1994 Disco 1 to my 1994 Disco 1. Donor had a 200TDI auto where as I have a 200TDI manual, I'm not suspecting to have too many issues with this. My current Disco hasn't run in 10 years as it's gearbox blew up, but I have since sourced a box for it but have noticed how much rust the body had in it hence the swap.

However I cannot find anywhere online a guide or list of things to check off as I go about lifting the body off, does anyone have a diagram of the body mount bolts etc? I understand I'll have to disconnect the back seat belts but otherwise I was just going to jump under it and take a look really to see what's needing to be done.

Any advice or suggestions are very welcomed.

Cheers,

Charlie

all the documentation can be found in the google drive link in my signature. They are known collectively as 'RAVE'. There is much more in that drive as well covering older vehicles as well as specialty manuals on gearboxes, engines, etc. Have at it.

I recently took the body of my 96 D1 off the chassis. Two mounts under the oil cooler in the very front, two at the back off the engine bay, two under the driver/ passenger feet, two under the rear seat and two under the bumper at the very back . As you mentioned also the aetbelt straps. I attached a chain fall to my garage ceiling and lifted it off after I took off all 5 doors. Wasn’t bad, good luck

Thanks for that, that was exactly the kind of response I was looking for. Will have to get some photo's posted of the process.

I have actually watched that a few times and although a big job doesn't look overly difficult considering we aren't pulling the axles etc apart.

Cheers
