Default 98 Disco, cooling system problem.

Had the "waterfall" sound last night (coolant not low) so I bled the system. Lot's of burping that never stopped, this morning it pushes the coolant into the expansion tank, engine temp climbed above 230 so I shut it down. Interesting thing is that the coolant in the tank is not hot. I'll be getting a block test kit after work but just wondering if anyone has run into similar symptoms that were not a cracked block. No leaks (other than what escapes the tank) no oil/water mix and engine has been running beautifully.
Thoughts?
Thanks

Sounds like your thermostat is stuck closed and you have still have air in the system (best case) the waterfall sound is probably your o rings in the heater core gone bad. I would start by pulling thermostat and rebleeding air (through the upper heater hose) but, it's up to you how you go about it. The upper heater hose is my choice. If it jumped up to 230 in a matter of seconds, like 15 or 30 it's most definitely air in the system. Worst case you've a blown head gasket and compression is blowing coolant back into the expansion tank.
Road side fix: pull thermostat, delete heater core with length of 5/8 hose or just pull one hose off and double back to other hard pipe, bleed air

The leak down test pinpointed cylinder #6 as the culprit so the search for a new/used engine begins.

Sorry to hear that man. I was quite sure I was on the same road myself until last night's block test. Now you've got me thinking I should do another longer one to be sure. How long did it take to get the color change for you? I tested for about 5 minutes.
