I am happy to report back that the new connector was spliced in, and the new pump and new rubber ring/gasket were installed... fired right up (with a boost of course and pics to be added over the weekend)

Now to do some long overdue maintenance... IACV cleaning, MAF cleaning, oil drop, spark plugs, and to figure out the spongy breaks
