Default Adding a transmission dipstick to 5-speed???

Hello Good People,

Just a question on how one would go about adding a transmission dipstick.
I know anything is possible. So please keep that in mind if you choose to respond. I am seeking technical insight on how to do it and not discouragement.

Would one start by modifying the bolt fill plug?
Are there any other Rovers or German trucks to swap parts?

Currently I use a large transmission fluid syringe that works better than a pump. Still I want to know the technical aspect of how this can be made possible.

Included is an image of it being done on a D2.
And yes my vehicle is a 5speed D1

T.I.A.

You'd be plugging into the drain not the fill otherwise the "stick" would be measuring above the oil level.

D2's do not have a dipstick and the one depicted is installed in an auto trans pan.

I would think if you can find something like a brass fitting it would be possible to sort of copy what the D2's auto pan has happening. Don't know of any surrogates for the tube, probably a van would have one long enough to reach from the engine bay.

Why ? If its leaking that much that you need to check it regularly then get it fixed.
