Default Almost there.......

Gents,

Refurbing the 94 Disco and am making good progress. PS pump, soldered ECU, new window motors , O2 , F/R diff oil , T box oil, brakes all around , POR 15 all over the sketchy rust spots, assorted plastics and such, new rubber manyana. I need an idea of cost on what seems to be my biggest remaining issue. Had the swivel pin service done and the drivers side leaks like a bitch. Evidently a seal or gasket ( havent looked into the details , as ive been under the hood all weekend !) . Any idea of complexity of the job and cost. Can a backyard mechanic execute ?

Thanks in advance for the replys.

In addition to diy repair, consider change from oil to "00" grease (see local lawn mower shop). If you don't wade a lot, drain and refill of swivels is not common, many have switched to grease.

Here is what I did to "fix" my leak.

Gaiter Kit For Swivel Housings (Part # DA3057) - Land Rover kits from Atlantic British

Works great.
Takes about a hour to install both sides.

Drained the trouble swivel today and tossed in the LR grease packet , as recommended. Looks good and is spot free so far. Only issue was I could only fill 1/3 of the bag . I thought it was a one shot . Thought i'd be able to fill it with more . Ideas ??

Turn the wheel as far as it can go towards the outside and spin the wheel, spinning the wheel with bring the lube down into the swivel.

Drain plug is on the side so Putting it in through that may not be a good idea.

The drain plug was done away with in late '96.
Thats when they switched over to the "00" grease.

Got it. I have both the top and bottom plugs on my '96, iirc the top is a smaller diameter.
