Default Alpine window removal

I need to pull my alpine windows for some body repair before paint. Anyone have experience with pulling these? Looking for some tips or tricks to help me out, these look much harder then other glass Ive pulled in the past.

the rave has an outline to do it, it looks pretty easy to get them out just push out from the inside. getting them back in seems to be the hard part.

A baseball bat removes them pretty efficiently.

A tree limb works wonderfully too which I learned the hard way while out wheeling this spring.

With two people they came right out, I'm thinking they might go back in fairly easy using the buddy system.

I came in from thanksgiving out of town to find the driver side alpine window in my 2003 discoveryII shattered. I found a replacement at roverland parts. Does anyone know what will be necessary to install this replacement? Seals, glue, etc. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

if you take a close look at the seal from the outside, youll see that its a two part... theres a harder center strip that runs down the middle of it. you can find where the joint is there and pry that up with a flathead screwdriver (should be at the top edge of the window somewhere in the middle). once youve pulled that center bit out, the rest of the rubbery part of the seal should get pretty loose.
if youve already got the big panel removed on the inside (and you need to...) you should be able to pry the seal around the metal from the inside then start just pulling it out. its not bad to do on your own.

going back in is also pretty easy... if you have the little snapon tool to feed that hard center bit back into the rubber part of the seal. i forget the part number for that but its on dweb if i recall...

anyway, just lube up the window with some soapy water, and lube up the rubbery seal. install is the reverse of removal

granted my experience was on a non rear-a/c truck so if youve got that there may be some additional crap to remove on the inside...

Thanks for the input. I do have rear a/c. Do the replacements come with the seal already attached? If that's the case I guess it's just a matter snapping it backin. All input is greatly appreciated.

i think the D2 alpine window seals are a bit different than on the D1. I know the rear window seals are completely different. The D1 uses a standard seal and from what it looks like the D2 uses a glue in seal.. Might want to consult the oracle (rave) and see what it has to say on the matter..
