Alpine Windows - Why?

Alpine Windows - Why?
There's lots of talk on the web about how to remove them, but I've yet to see anything explaining what their purpose is. Why isn't it just one pane like the passenger side? Is there some advantage? If I sit closer to it do I tan better? Does the wildlife look bigger?

I think you are confused, both the rear upper windows are alpine Windows. Alpine like mountains, aka you can see things up high. The reason the drivers side one has the double glass is cause its a duct for the rear ac, it comes up behind the window across the alpine window to the overhead vents above the rear seats. Now we will let this thread die and forget you asked such a silly question.

It's so you can see just how high those trails go up as you wind your way near the mountain. In case you may want to do a sanity check before that final incline. Or maybe just stop for tea and crumpets.
You do know you are supposed to carry tea to brew while out on expedition don't you. Get a nice camp tea kettle soon.

nah it's a flat hard dense muffin.
the kids love the alpines. it adds to the overall visibility factor, lighting up the whole truck....giving you that fishbowl feel.
the only ones who hate them are the ones that have to rip them out to fix the rust in order to put them back.
yur procrastinating but it's obvious this is the only vehicle for you.

What a screwed up mess. The A/C duct actually consist of 2 clear plexi panels to create the duct so when I removed the duct to clean everything; I had to clean the inside of the alpine glass, then both sides of the inner plexi piece and then both sides of the outer plexi piece but now it is crystal clear. I polished the panels with Novus plastic polish and cleaner.
Another thing to cross off my to do list. I also just reconditioned both sunroofs and sun blinds.
