I doubt the parts from the DII Bosch alt are compatible with the parts from the DI Mirelli alt.

I will find a good home for it eventually, either in trade or good faith.
It works, I was told it is noisy because the bearings are going out, I spun the pulley and you can hear them.
Mine is starting to knock pretty good, I can hear it inside the cabin if I have the stereo off.
I put a screw driver on it and listened and it sounds like sand in a blender with ice.
Put my hand on it and you can feel the knock.
I figure I have a month at least before it stops working.

Hope you're figuring is good! If it craps out at a bad time, it could be bad for ya, good luck.

Ye of little faith.

I drove for two weeks with no working alt in the dead of winter one year, working 7 days a week for 2 solids weeks, brought my battery charger and extension cord to work, plugged in, drove home, plugged in, drove to work, plugged in...here in the winter its dark and snowing when you go to work, and dark and snowing when you go home from work...glass half full Danny, glass half full.

No I have not tried those guys Doug.
My check was smaller than expected this week, so next week I will buy a new alt (I worked last Sat), until then I'll just turn up the stereo so I cant here the bearings knocking.
Or maybe I can pretend I have a diesel?

I went to a concert with a friend last night, after working all day and several beers I hit Taco Bell on the way home, sitting next to the building with the window down it sounded like my truck was going to grenade. LOL!!!

Who ever invented those Doritos tacos needs to win the Noble Peace Prize.

I can't taste the Dorito shell over the fire sauce.......meh, I like the taste of pain more.

I bought a used DII starter from Gene's last year for $50 bucks, it's was darn near new condition. I couldn't believe my ears and eyes. I called every parts house in town hoping......

They gotta have a couple of MM's sitting around. If it where my alternator I'd have torn it down and found the bearing number.....

I dont have the time to tear it down, working 12hr days 6 days a week.
Hell, I still have not done my brake overhaul, I've just been carrying the rotors and pads and calipers and hub seals and brake fluid around in the back of my truck for the last 2 months, maybe thats why I've lost 1mpg? Carrying around a extra 200lbs.

What is this? Do I hear whining about making the big bucks?

You've lost 1 mpg cuz of the alt bearing, don't be like that.

I'll lighten your load and take the brakes off ya, gotta be worth at least $20 in gas.

Man, if we where closer I'd fix yours while your enjoying my 18 mpg champagne ride.

No whining here about making money.

If you lived closer we could start our own Rover shop on the side, hell man, think of the money we could make and the beer we could drink.
We could have done your head gaskets in half the time it took you, my brake overhaul in a hour including bleeding the brakes.

You know, I've been seriously thinking of starting up a shop here in town......nobody works on em like I do. I treat em like they are my own. The guys 95 I STILL have here is blown away at how clean his motor is now. He was impressed with mine when he saw it so I gave him a good deal on his. Still have a few more mechanical bugs to go over like brake lines that last mech tossed at it. Zero proportioning valve......

I've found a couple of buildings for rent that are small enough and yet have all the room needed. Plenty of room for a lift. Lots of Rovers up here that are shaky at best, they need a couple of good wrenches.

We could call the shop "Spouts"........
