Volts could be close, but what separates the toys is the amps output at those volts. Looks like the Deso is also speced for 100 amps, so don't add 12 Hellas just yet. Without any external added lights, my old D1 draws about 80 amps from alternator running, with head lights, AC, modest radio, and wipers on.

I run a 120amp (rated) RR alternator on my '95 Disco. But it bench tested at 140amps peak.

Got it from BP.

Not worried about the 100 amps because I'll be running all LEDs and HIDs.

The MR Amp alternator is rated at 130.

Sorry for tuning in late on this thread. One big option for those of you that actually need extra amps is the Green Machine, which is a new, not rebuilt alternator offered up to and above 200 amps

Yep, we'll see you coming from all the lights pulsing to the "disco" beat on the 1200 watt stereo....

Ha. No thanks

What I meant was to convert all interior and exterior lights to LED like many have done. For driving lights I'll use Hella Ralleye 4000 LED lights. For headlights I'll use high a quality HID conversion with real low/high (know some don't like HID. Not trying to start that debate). That should keep it within the power budget.

The interior LEDs have an added benefit of saving the Muti-function Unit, which IMHO having no heat sink has no buiness switch 24 watts of power - mine failed and had a nice 1/4 inch hole melted thru the case by the transistor used to dimm the interior lights in steps. The LEDs will still step down, just not "smooth" like incandescent.

Eric,
Lets talk sometime regarding HID's. I have dual HID headlights for a total of 7 watts and 3 separate 35 watt bumper mounted spots for off road.
