Default Ball end Seat

Ok so popped out the center console etc to get to the dif lock. My problem is that I am able to lock but when i go to unlock it will not unlock, the stick was moving freely. So i discovered that the plactic bearing housing called the "ball end seat has somehow broken or popped out etc allowing the stick to move but not push the pivot back. I am able to unlock it but being in alaska i like to be able to use it on the fly without taking the interior of my truck apart. Why did they use plastic and not a threaded part. I saw a parts breakdown and didnt notice a spring but my truck has a spring. I tried to jb weld it back in but it did not work so tomorrow I am popping the whole stick assy out and fixing it right. stupid plastic parts

I had the same problem. Pull out the assembly, remove the shifter. I ordered the new ball seat thingy from rovers north for like 3 bucks. Its a b***ch to get it on. I heated it in in water, greased it and pushed like hell to get it over the ball. Took several tries, a few beers and lots of cussing. Its smooth as can be now though.

well got it fixed. Some JB Weld and sandpaper made quick work of it. I know its a jerry rig but it works 100%, greased everything so its smoother than ever. Would of bought the new part but couldnt wait. thanks for all the advice and all the write ups or this may have been harder. All I can say is If you do a cdl repair and you have to pull the assy out make sure you note exactly where the spindle for the Hi/Lo switch lever or you will end up putting it all back together to take it for a drive just to realize the second you but some stress on the drive line, it pops out of gear because you were in a hurry(of course i am referring to myself)
