Default Bank 1 o2 sensor, oil pressure on cold starts.

Hello everyone,

I am trying to sort out a couple issues, the catalytic converters were stolen out of my D1 prior to my purchase. The bank 1 sensor 1 wires were cut. I put a temporary o2 sensor bung in along with a new sensor yet it does not read any voltage at idle and creeps up the tiniest amount when above idle. I am thinking the sensor wires shorted out at some point and the sensor isn't getting 12V. Is there a fuse or plug that's a common issue for sensor 1? I'll have to wait a little bit to climb on the ground and meter it out as it's -30 with quite a bit of snow right now.

Another issue I have is the oil pressure light on cold starts (sub -25 Celsius). It stays on for an uncomfortable amount of time 20-30 seconds, I even dropped the conventional for 10-30 synthetic hoping it may move a little easier in the cold. Is this normal?

Also I should mention I used a temporary bung because I don't want to drop 700$ on a y pipe only to have it ruin the cats immediately from running rich.

Thanks!

The O2s do not technically need 12V. 12V is for the heater so they heat up and start functioning faster after cold starts. Once the O2s reach 600 deg F operating temperature, they don't need the heater. Did you run it a long time? I don't recall if the O2s are listed in the fuse box. There are links to electrical diagrams in the Forum.

My 94 takes long for the oil pressure light to go out too, especially in cold weather. I think it is just a function of thick oil in the pressure switch itself, I know oil is circulating. I would get worried if it lasted more than a few minutes with a cold engine.

As reference:

I have a new oil pump, timing chain and gears and run 15-40 weight even when temps approach lows below 10 degrees and my oil pressure light stays on about 3-4 seconds - when warmer it is usually off in less than 2 seconds

Hmm wonder if my new o2 sensor is a dud. I'll swap it with one that's reading and see once it warms up. That's good to know about the oil pressure, I'll ignore it for now, it may be less than the time stated it just feels like an eternity when I am waiting for it to go off.
