Ok , next question:
Any Grease requirements?

I grabbed some lucas red "n" tacky #2, 540 degree drop point. will that do?
it seemed like the best stuff there. I definitely want something better than straight lithium grease.

Sounds like someone with a bone to pick with Timken, or maybe he just meant at the plant in CT. Timken still makes bearings.

I repack them if they look ok after I clean them up and examine them.
I've posted the Timken bearing failure analysis guide before.

Other brands that are fine to use also are:
SKF BR37, *** KIT38 or National A-37
