Question Blower mystery

Hey guys,
This one has got me scratching my head.
Heater fan had only the usual #1 & #4 selections blowing air.
Then one day she upright quit.
Understandable so I got the blower motor resistor.
Nothing changed, but I did hear a faint click come from the blower relay under the dash. Got one of those & put it in. Nothing still but a click from it in all the selections from 1 to 4.
Thoughts?
Fuse is good because I can hear power *click* to the relay.
Both new original LR parts.
Ideas?
ANY info be great as it's -21c with our onset of winter here in Canada.

Sounds to me like your 1,2,3,4 blower speed selector is possibly INOP. Mine occasionally will stop blowing on position 4 if I hit a bump. They're not very cheap if you look for a D1 unit, but I'm 99% sure a D2 rear AC speed switch uses the same slider switch and you can find those all day long on Ebay.

yup...the switches get corroded and then the contacts start to arc inside the switch...if it's not damaged too bad yet you may be able to resurect it for a while by shooting some WD40 in the switch....it wont hurt anything and might clean it enough to help

thanks Best4x4 ...I didnt know about the D2 rear a/c switch....I'm getting ready to part my D2...

Yeah I had a D2 that I was working on for a friend. They had gone and bought a completely new rear AC Control for their D2 just because theirs no longer lit up. It was the first time I'd had one in my hand so I inspected it and found out of coarse the bulb could be replaced. Then I noticed it had the same slider as a D1 so I gutted it (didn't have a D2 with rear AC at the time) and sure enough the actual slider switch is exactly the same part!

It'll take a little finesse to get your old D1 slider assembly out but it can be done!

If all else fails, I have used HVAC control units in stock that all tested good and come with a warranty.

The blower motor circuit draws a LOT of amperage. I had a replacement switch on it's way and installed a couple of jumper wires temporarily. They got awfully hot driving to work and back. I even changed to larger wires just in case. The circuit does use a 50 amp fuse.

Spray some electronic terminal/contact cleaner in it.
I would never use WD40 on electronics since it leaves oil residue.

The slide switch is not easily accessible from the outside of the dash, I doubt that spraying anything in without taking the console apart would make much difference.
