Default Bottom end knock after sitting.

Anyone have a bottom end knock in the am after sitting for a few days on start up? It does it once in a while and I'm thinking it may be an oil pressure issue.

No I've not hooked up a pressure reg to it yet, but after I replaced all critical components last summer, had the timing chain cover off, all looked good but have no idea when the pump was replaced. Should I start by checking pressure or, should I look at bearings etc?

Oil PSI test good idea. During test, swap out oil to new oil and filter, see https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...estions-46975/, maybe even 20W50. Certainly not 10W30. Compare numbers and noise with higher viscosity oil along with low restriction filter.

See https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...rite-up-48197/ for repair procedure.

And while waiting to start repair, there is always Lucas oil treatment. Some swear at it, some swear by it, basically a thick oil that does not drain off internal parts as easy. Contractors who have machinery that sits for many days between short term use do like it. Enough of it is sold to allow them to pay to have their name plastered on a football stadium.

Thanks Savannah, I've already switched over to Rotella 15-40 and a Wix filter, I'll do the pressure test then go from there.

Past the oil pressure test, cold at idle and 2000 RPM's and again when hot at idle and 2000 RPM's, if the pump is not the issue. quit driving it, plan on pulling the pan and do a bearing inspection before it gets any worse.

Anyone have any info on the Bearing Inspection. Sounds like a good time for in-process pics and a write up to come out of this Adigerol! Help us all see how and what.

Savannah posted a good write up on how to change with detailed pics...I only drive her once a week to keep her loose so I'll check the pressure and go from there. If pressure isn't the answer, I'll start tearing into her.
