Default Brake booster pushrod

Just got a new Lucas brake booster, curious as to if the pushrod inside the booster needs adjustment or if they are pre set, mine has no threads showing and looks to be bottomed out, reading 20mm of distance to the booster face. i attempted to get a pair of pliers on it so i could turn the adjustment nut out but to no avail. is there a trick to this such as installing the booster and pressing the pedal to grab the pushrod and make the adjustment? i put a bit of grease on the pushrod and installed a master cylinder i had laying around and the grease isnt touching the end of the master cyl so i assume im gonna have to adjust just dont know how. there is very little information on this topic on the internet, thanks for the help.

I think they should already be pre-adjusted, but I’ve never bought a new booster, only a new master cylinder. I think after you install your booster, just bolt your MC on there without fluid in it and see if feels like the pedal has resistance. If not, you know to twist the rod to extend it a bit.
