Default Brake Fade

Hi all

This is my first post so please forgive any errors in etiquette.

I have a 1998 3.9ltr non ABS discovery in which the brakes were starting to fade, that is they would seem to take longer to come to a stop and no matter how hard I pushed on the pedal the wheels would not lock (they had locked previously)

So I figured - replace the master cylinder - this I did without mush hassle, and yes I purchased the genuine non ABS cylinder.

Ever since I installed the new master cylinder I have not been able to get any brake pressure, I have bled the brakes 5 or 6 times but the fluid just dribbles out of the nipples, there is no pressure.

Is there some trick that I do not know about?

What am I doing wrong?

Cheers

Did you bench-bleed the master cyl. before you installed it? That can leed to traped air in the master that is near impossible to get out through coventional bleeding

Thanks for the suggestion, bled the master cylinder and then bled the brakes another 5 times - finally got pressure.

How much DOT 4 fluid did you use, in other words, did you use at least 3 to 4 pints, if not that may be part of the issue. The other part may be glade or warn out pads and or rotors.
