Default Brake Light Issues

So ive tried searching what could be causing this and couldnt find anything on my specfic topic.

The brake lights on the body of the truck do not come on at all, or the brake lamps on the bumper. My upper 3rd brake light works, my taillamps work. my reverse lights work, my rear foglamps work, all turn signals work.

All simple solutions have been checked, no loose connections, no bad bulbs, and no blown fuses.

and if it was the brake light switch or short wouldnt the upper 3rd not work also?

Im just tired of using my rear foglamps in sync with the push of the pedal for brakelights.

Thanks, Brad

Agreed on brake light switch. SeeRAVE ETM page Z5 - #23, which is locations for connector C415 and C406 and C400. These are associated with the stop lights anjd located inside the body in the space behind and below the cargo area light (beside hinge side of door). There is a pop off panel.

That is definitely an overheat condition. I seem to recall seeing something about the taillights tending to short out on these but do not recall any specific details. Did you try a search on brake lights?

I do recall that people suffered damage from the trailer plugs, don't know if that is associated with your problem or not. If it were me, I would call Paul Grant/Will Tillery and see if they have any tail light sockets available and go ahead and cut off those screwed up ones and replace them. Can't hurt.

mine were like that, same thing I had no brake lights but the third eye was ok. I am somewhat ashamed to admit that I fixed them with tinfoil temporarily which has become permanent as it functions quite well, at least until it stops working again, i guess.

problem fixed, PO had just thrown some random bulbs in , they were drawing to much. That caused the bulbs to over heat or short out the circut or something and create enough heat to burn and melt the plastic....Solution clean off metal surfaces, replace with new correct bulbs and now I have all my brake lights again. for now.

Great. Also note that "proper" bulbs have oval shaped contacts on the bottom, instead of round ones on most bulbs.
