Brake lights constant on 1998 discovery

Hello I am now the proud owner of a Land Rover discovery 1998 lse and I noticed that brake lights are on constantly was wondering is it as simple as a brake pedal switch any thoughts

That would be where I checked first. The PO may have wired the lights on by using a jumper wire if the brake light switch is bad. And punctuation helps.

I'd suspect the switch. When you get your head under there there are two and the lower one is for the curise control. New ones on eBay are $30 or so.
