Default Brake lights stuck on / no cruise control

Ok so my cruise control has not been working on my discovery.. I also noticed the other night that my brake lights are not turning off!! Definitely related. Is there a brake pressure switch of something that could be stuck?

I'd check out the brake light switch, might just need adjustment

Both the brake light and cruise control cancel switches are mounted on the brake pedal. Its possible that they both went bad at the same time but I doubt it. Its also possible that the cruise not working is completely unrelated to the brake lights. Most D1's don't have working cruise control.
Its probably best to contort your body and look to see whats going on by your brake pedal.

On mine the cruise switch is below the brake light switch and has a vacuum hose connected to it; my problem was the opposite with no brake lights and required a new brake light switch.

My Jeep Gnd Cherokee sometimes leaves the brake lights on and I have to pull up on the brake pedal to turn them off - had a couple of dead battery times before I noticed the cause of the drain. If your brake pedal is not coming up far enough it could cause both symptoms.
