Default Brake Switch bad- stuck in Park - Need to move it

So yeah my brake switch is not letting me shift it out of park - worked fine this morning.
I have the switch out and tested it - one side is always on (pretty sure thats not right). I also tried with the switch removed and no change.
Is there a way to jump the connection to get it out of park?
Would like to avoid removing the center console.
Its blocking my other vehicle (that works)

hmm maybe thats why I couldnt get CC to work years ago.........
Idk though, if I fix all the minor issues..... isnt it a rule that something major breaks - haha

Eitherway can confirm JohnZo's post I linked works on my 98 v8 - 'note to self' keep paper clips in the glove box!

do you have LED bulbs in your brake lights? if so, that will also not allow the CC to work.

A trick I learned a few years back when my brake switch quitand I was far from home was to hook the 3rd brakelightwire into the rear defrosterconnection. turning on the rear defroster will allow you to shift out of park...

Ok thats trick - would have never thought of that.

whats interesting is theres no solenoid release by the shifter like say a toyota - makes me wonder, if it is to be towed without the key present/or has a bad brake switch..... do they disconnect the driveshaft?
