Have you flushed your brake fluid lately?? Sounds like you have moisture in the brake lines causing major brake fade.

I have been fighting soft pedal since I bought mine 1 1/2 years ago. I think mine is a master cylinder. Just have not fixed it yet.

Your BRAKES over heated, you need to shift the transmission into 3rd gear, maybe even 2nd, depending on how fast you are going and how steep the hill is, BEFORE you start down the hill.
Use the BRAKES as little as possible, let the engine do all of the work.

Great argument for drilled/slotted rotors and decent pads - I've put them on my little cars and the braking is too confidence inspiring.

They're goin' on the DI when/if it needs rotors.

Colodisco, I bled (3)qts. (not pints) thru mine and the pedal and response is 100% better

luck,greg

It's not just bleeding, you need to do a complete flush. That's part of routine maintenance.
Moisture in the fluid reduces the boiling point. At a lowered boiling point fluid turns to gas when you use your brakes a lot because overuse heats the fluid.

That may not be your only problem. You may also have internally swollen flex lines. If they've never been replaced, it's a good bet they are.

Good advice Spike. I manually shift the crap out of my truck: let that torque help out!
