And that last idea is the best, you already have the parts on hand....

 

Seal the casing with silicone and use alot of dialectric gel on all the metal components. Dialectric gel is cheap and works perfect to keep moisture out. It is very hard to keep the lens free from moisture, so smear the gel everywhere electricity flows.
