Default Buying a 97 Discovery

Thinking about buying a winter car. Always wanted a land rover and think this would be a great place to start. I just recently got rid of a troublesome 02 540i and have a history some mechanical work. So I dont think it would be an issue to fix. However wanted feed back from some experts on weather this car is worth the buy. If it is how easy would it be to fix the fuel pump?

also would there be any sources you guys would recommend to purchase the fuel pump, and what other issues should i be on the look out?

you can get those at most big box generic parts places as well as rover specific suppliers.
but if that is the only issue, I'd be surprised...anyone has a few minutes to do the swap. he'd have to be a quadriplegic, if that is the time consuming task, that keeps him from "fixing it up"

Talk him Down to five the fuel pump is spendy. Also look under the carpet in the rear for rust as well as checking for rust along the underside of the gutters, check that the rear windows roll down, cruise control function, water in the oil. Anything you can think of check. These trucks are true project vehicles

I agree with Dusty, any ******** can change the fuel pump and if you search relatively well, you don't have to drop a lot of coin on one. if it were me, I would put in some used part and ask significantly more. Makes no sense. many times, the fuel pump is an easy scapegoat for much deeper issues. I would be really really careful about buying a rover that does not start, you have no idea what you are getting into and it would really suck to end up with something that needs head gaskets right from the get go, which is a ridiculously common failure point
