Default a/c question

Hi guys,

I have a 97 disco with the a/c inop. If I push the button in the light does not illuminate. I checked the fuses and they are fine. I can hear the relay in the passenger kickpanel click when I depress the button. I can hear the fan kick on as well. I do not think the compressor clutch is engaging. Is there another likely relay, pressure switch etc. that I should look into? Would sending 12 volts to the compressor be a good test to see if the clutch pulls in?

Thanks in advance for the help!

There is a pressure switch, if refrigerant low, compressor won't come on. Some parts stores rent/loan gauges.
