I recently purchased a 96' D1 manual truck that had a cooked transfer box. The seller gave me a good D2 box to be used in place of the rather toasted unit. I understand that they are basically the same units and side by side they have differences in sensor location, but the same accept for the speedo pickup. The plan was to replace the front output housing from the D1 to the D2 so that I could use my old selector, but the rear out put housing is a little bit speculative. Has anyone done this and is it as simple as swapping the front and rear housings out? I would rather not take apart a good transfer case to find out whether this will work or not if someone already has the knowledge. Thank you in advance.
