Default Can't fine Dexron III, can I use Dexron VI???

Greetings, I am getting under the hood and doing the 60,000 mile service. Working from the list Mike has on here. Got everything on had and have the skills to do everything on that list! However, I have a stupid question and dont want to do it wrong. I can't fine Dexron III anywhere here in Salem, Oregon Can I use Dexron VI? I bought 6 qt of Valvoline Dexron VI, Full Synthetic should I use that or return it for something else? Also, little history on the 01 discovery with 101,000 mile, alway serviced at the dealer. I always just did the oil changes. With the new job that paying less now, I thought I can save $$$$ doing it myself, always did tune ups on cars before this one. Since this always got service from the dealer is it ok to just put the 6 qts in of do I need to a complete flesh?

Also, what should I put in the t/case?

Should be able to find a variety of things that are Dexron III compatible. Valvoline Maxlife ATF is one. Here is compatibility.

DEXRON, DEXRON II, III and VI, Toyota T-IV and WS, MERCON®, MERCON® SP and LV, Allison TES 389, Nissan Matic-D, Matic-J and Matic-K, Honda Z-1 (except CVT), Mercedes NAG-1, Mitsubishi Diamond SP-II and SP-III and many others are required.

Opinions vary, naturally. I installed Dex VI on purpose. It is somewhat thinner than Dex III, but designed to be "backwards compatible." In other words, anything which specifies Dex III can use Dex VI. See "bobistheoilguy.com" for more info. And oh, by the way, 25K miles later no problems.

I retract my previous statement.
