Clutch Issue
It should not be difficult to shift through the gears. Did the tranny mate to the engine on it's own, or did you have to tighten the bolts around the bell housing to get the tranny and engine to mate together?
I did need to use the lower two bell housing bolts to bring the bell housing to the motor. Could the transmission shift be misaligned? I figured if I could get it flush, it had to be aligned. I put the two bolts in and tightened them just a little and turned the motor by hand a few degrees and then tightened those two bolts up. Right now, I only have those two bolts holding it together because I may have to take it back apart.

OK, dropped transmission, again. The new clutch plate is much thicker than the old one, which was worn out. I think that the new plate is just too thick for everything to work properly. I got the plate off of ebay. The given plate fingers are pointed towards the flywheel when everything is tightened down. It does shift and drive, but clutch pedal doesn't go all the way to floor and is very stiff.

"Much thicker" is relative.
I'll say that I've never seen a pressure plate with the fingers pointed towards the flywheel. I'll also say I've never seen the clutch on my Disco. Do you mean that the fingers angle towards the flywheel after it's been torqued down, but would point towards the transmission if it wasn't torqued down? If so, tt sounds like the clutch disc is so thick that it is causing the pressure plate to compress way too far when it is properly torqued down, causing the fingers to move too far in (away from the transmission and towards the pressure plate). If this is the case, you have mismatched components. I've always purchased clutch kits to avoid such a situation.
