When I first discovered snorkels many years ago, I always wanted one. When I actually looked at one installed, then the price, I turned my head and never looked back. Now this thread has me going again.....

Can’t wait to see the finished product.

Will this be a truly US product or are you going to outsource the MFG'g?

I still want a snorkel, but I'm just saying.
my profile pic, no snorkel.

this vid no snorkel

although in this vid at 1:20 the truck that goes thru the mud bog went too fast and broke the bow and flooded his box.

if i had a snorkel installed i would want it to be flat black, im not paying even an extra $5 for sparkly gold, i want it to work properly (good seals) and a head that can be installed forward or backward with a replacabe filter as an option. simple, cheap effective.

Flat black would be cool. My main concern is with the filter. When you say filter do you mean a completely separate air filter? How do you plan on having a multiple piece snorkel that comes apart and still have it seal up to not allow water in?
Just my thoughts. Hope it doesn't sound like I am flaming, because I'm not.

Update: My original thought was to cast the snorkel in plastic. However the aluminum tube makes more sense. My design is a 3" tube with urethane coating. The tube needs to be bent in a few places. The difficulty with tube bending is finding someone to do it. I have a small bender and cannot bend in mass. Does anyone know of a person or company that can bend the tubes.

Excellent work wheelgarage. I'm talking to someone you suggested right now. They are willing to work with my specs. Sending my drawings and specs to them for a quote. I think we are in business now. After haveing the tubes made, everything else is easy. Like I said the tubes will have a urethane coating which can be designed for custom jobs or keep it simple with the flat black. Either way the urethane coating is signiture to this snorkel. It is impact resistant and will stabilize the interior atmosphere air temperature. Shock Shell Snorkels. This is reality. For you skeptics and bashers out there. You will have to use the comptition and pay the outrageous prices for inferior recycled plastic snorkels. Estimated price so far is around $200- $250 for aluminum tube with hardware, instructions and a flat black urethane coating. Custom urethane coatings will be around $300. Thanks again wheelgarage.

Prototypes are not picture worthy. They are useful for one thing only. And thats to build the master for production.
