Aye, laddy. Aye. However, I figure that the total cost of the conversion would be around 5k. Can't do that right now, going to build a pole barn here shortly.
I do get all warm and tingly at the thought of running a LS and 6L80. I casually keep an eye out for that combo at the local LKQ.

I priced it out once....I think you'll be closer to 10k when all is said and done. But darn, it would be cool.

Walt, it absolutely depends on your skills...... I just priced out a 6.0 with trans and transfer case for $1800 out of an 04 Silverado 2500. With engine/trans computers it's another $120. Axles, shafts, coils, shocks, a digital skinny pedal, and the wiring probably about another $1k. Assorted lines, bolts, mounts etc..... maybe another $500. Of course I'd go with some goodies...... another $1k. It all comes to $4420 off the top of my head. $5k sounds pretty reasonable. I already know what an LS in a GM feels like so it's free for me.....

It begins.

Yeah, my pricing was "recycled" LS jazz.

I do not envy the journey your about to begin. Once clear of the engine bay here's to hoping it accidentally falls off the chain 5' off the floor.

It's not so bad. I've yanked engines/transmissions out about a 6-8 times. First time was helping a neighbor remove the engine out of his '60's VW bus. Even done it a few times for fun on my '86-'87 Turbo Buicks.
I'm going to pull the engine and transmission out as one unit. Gonna try my damnedest not to drop it.
Below is as far as I got yesterday. Only issue I had was the mosquitoes. They were pissing me off. A Lot!
Couple of questions:
Are the trumpets supposed to be loose or rubbing the upper plenum? How hard should the lower plenum be stuck to the intake manifold?

Trumpets should be tight not bouncing (press fit) and the upper and lower probably haven't ever been cracked apart or oil glued together. There is no gasket between them. Check all bolts are out. No wonder it ran funky, they are extensions of the runners.

Short Term Fuel Trim has been whacky on one bank for as long as I can remember.

Well you know why now. I'm sure you'll find other good stuff as you dig deeper into the bowels of your Disco, much like the crank sensor mount. None of it is too difficult it's just you've got allot of miles on that box.

If you need an intake manifold let me know I have one on the shelf. It will need some cleaning but it is yours if you need it.
