I found out today that you can in fact use the less expensive older 02's on the late model D1 with the Advanced Evap. system. Turns out they both use the same 02 body, the only difference is the plug, which if you are very careful, you can remove the old plug, don't cut the wires, use a minature screw driver, and install it on the less expensive 02's and you are set.
To verify this, look at the model number on both 02 bodies, they are both the same.

 

I haven't seen DII sensors for less that $53 which is what you can get the D1 w/AEL sensors, which have the correct connectors.
