So I know this may seem dumb but how are you all CLR-ing etc the radiator? Would the acids not affect the metals in the rad? This is new to me and I'm curious about trying it.

I removed the top hose (drivers side) and the bottom hose and then the small hoses on the top passenger side. I used a Ziploc bag and rubber bands to keep it in.

CLR will not affect the brass in the radiator - I did quite a bit of reading on this prior to doing so. It will affect aluminum...which is why I was very careful on keeping it only in the radiator.

Make sure and run water from all entry|exit points before you refill with coolant & distilled water.

So done with rad still installed then? Very tempting-I will probably do it before getting her on the road again. you tied ziploc bags to the end of the radiator outlets then? How long should I leave it?

You got it. I left it in overnight and checked the flow by running water through both the top and bottom outlets.

Yes on the ziplock bags...odd I know but I couldn't think of a better way to do it. And I'm lazy.

understandable, I'll probably follow your lead on that one. Will probably do that this evening while I wait on the arrival of my new driveshaft. Until then, I'll be driving the A/C-less rover through this 110 degree heat....least it is flat as a board on the temp scale.

Enjoy that heat - my wife and kids are at DFW about to board a plane back to Denver. It's going to be 72 here for a high tomorrow
