D1 slow starting
Have a 95 I just bought. It has been starting decent but lately it has taken a couple of cranks to get it fired up. Once up it runs like a champ. The initial starting sounds pretty nasty and was curious if you guys have run into this. Starter isn't slow cranking it just acts almost like it isn't firing or getting fuel? Thinking spark plugs? Wires? Combination? Thanks for the help fellas!

What jimmy said plus....it probably could use a tune up. Check inside your cap terminals, good indication that the cap hasn't been replaced in awhile is carbon scabs on the terminals. They can be removed but your gonna be changing the rotor to terminal gap because of material loss passing the spark. Buy Lucas dizzy caps, other brands don't work as well (just passing along info).
When starting let the pump run until it shuts off then try starting, sometimes it takes two shots before turning ignition to position III.
Fuel pressure can be effected by weak pump, occluded pump sock, clogged inline filter, failed fuel pressure regulator, faulty fuel temp sensor, corroding fuel rail, occluded injectors and so forth. Up to you to find what and where.
Go forth and prosper with the knowledge....... report back.

Next time you go to start it after it's been sitting for a few hours like you say, hold it at the second key position before engaging the starter. Listen for the audible fuel pump and let it run until it primes the lines then shuts off on its own. Then try to start it. It 'should' start then. You might have some leaky fuel injectors or a leak somewhere else in the system which causes the pressure to have to build up on your first start attempt, and starting on the second attempt. You might want to run something like sea foam for a couple of tank fulls of gas.

Yea, it has all new cap, waited, plugs, solenoid. So leaning towards bad injectors or pump. Thinking more on the injectors because once it is started it runs great. Don't know when the last tune up was, just purchased it. Already getting things ready to run through the valves and re set them.
