Default D2 fender flares on D1

Tried to search but no results. I'm looking to see if someone has tried to fit D2 fender flares to a D1,can it be done? Or is there a good source for after market flares that don't cost a ton of money that I haven't found.

Technically it can be done but you would need to cut your guards back and it would look stupid, if you want to run large rubber then flatdog flexi flares (UK sourced ) or flares from Lucky8 US are good after market flares.

They look fine.

That said, they're not really necessary.

They don't look too bad a little messaging here and there, they just might work. Don't want to spend too much on something that might get lost on the trail anyway and plus you can get replacements at the bone yard all day long for next to nothing.
Thanks for the input.
