Notice the green discoloration of the exposed sections of the dash.

Has anyone else tried to remedy this? The only thing I can think of is xylene, acetone, or retr0bright.

Unfortunately the first two would remove the texture as well.

Any other ideas?

 

Damn dude I have never seen or heard of that before, what have you been using to clean it?

 

Kinda retro like saddle oxfords, two tone paint on pickups, etc. Whatever you try, do it in a very small area that can be covered up if the worst happens. Acetone would not be my first choice. Looks like the same sort of thing when plastic bumpers turn grey / white, from sun and loss of their plasticizer; makes a color shift.

 

never seen that one before......I've had some luck with some "trim paint" from advance auto on my door panels....maybe give that a try

 

I haven't used anything on it. The truck came that way. It will not wash off. I'm sure it's the result of UV and oxidation.

Are you sure you guys just haven't noticed it? Try removing the rubber strip to check for difference.

I'm attempting the retr0bright method and will post back the results.

Same discoloration, just not as bad so I took the left over chalkboard paint from the headliner redo, and did the did the dash. Black with contrasting tan instrument cluster, air bag, and glove box. It looks good imo

One of the advantages of having a shade tree garage. And speaking of that, I guess with all those giant trees in your area, your warranty will have to be triple what I offer... I don't see how you could stay in business...

 

You can buy interrior paint from land rover that will match the original tan color the dash was. I just ordered some. I pan on "touching up" my paint. I think you could just clean it and paint over it carefully with new tan land rover paint. Of course you will have to paint a lot of things to make it all match but it will look new and fresh.

 

Mixed together the high concentration hydrogen peroxide, glycerin, tetra acetyl ethylene diamine, and xanthan gum. Applied to all tan dash and console surfaces. Then added UV light. Hold on to your butts...

If this doesn't work, paint it is!

Good thing I don't live too close to those redwoods
