Default Dead fuel Pump...

So the wife was at work and called to say the LR won't start. Of course I made sure she was turning the key all the way first, and sure enough she was. Turns out there was no pressure at the fuel line. Checked out the fuse first and it was in good shape. Then checked power to the pump at the connector. It was getting juice so I cleaned out the connectors added some dielectric grease and put it back together. Still no fuel. Finally I banged on the ring that holds the pump in place and all of a sudden I heard the whine from the fuel pump - now suddenly alive again.

The question here is what to do next? Is there a trick to keeping that thing alive or is it time to start saving my pennies for a new fuel pump?

Time for another pump. But you can buy just the pump module itself, there have been posts as low as $20 I believe.

Also check the plug at the D/S rear wheel and on top of the tank for a pin that is brown and burnt. Can happen when the fuel pump is on its way out and give you problems down the road.
