Default Decision to make, plus electrical issues!

Hello there!

Went outside this morning and one of the tires finally bit the dust. I needed new ones anyway so I changed it to the factory spare. Here is my issue, I have 2 pictures one straight on and another from a small angle with the spare. The stock spare is 235 70 16, and the ones that were on their were 245 75 16. So when replacing which size should I go with. Here are my thoughts, 235 70 16 would allow for more wheel well flexing when offroad (correct?)

Can anyone weigh in? Are their Land Rover purist that think staying stock size is better? Or will the 245 do better offroad for me (since that will be my use for it)

On another note: Electrical issue

1) When I turn on the left turn signal the left and right turn signals are on with the trailer indicator on the dash both blinking (almost like emergency lights are on). Any suggestions, I have not checked the fuses yet, could that be an issue?

2) When I turn the right turn signal on I get nothing anywhere only the blinker and trailer on the dash.

Lastly, when taking the spare tire off the spare tire carrier is rusted and the bottom post rusted off, does anyone have one of those for a D1 laying around?

Thanks for reading and thanks for any help.

There are no seperate left/right turn indicators on the dash of the DI.
The trailer is supposed to blink once if there is no trailer connected, it blinks continually if there is a trailer plugged in.
Craig's List and e-bay are your friends for finding used parts.
I stuck with the OEM size tires, 235/70.

Camel trophy trucks had 7.50R16 which are about a 235/85R16.

I might have been misleading in the first post. When I meant both turn signals were blinking I meant outside the car with the left turn switched on, and nothing with the right switched on. Does that make sense?

Yes that makes more sense.
This issue has been covered before and I do not know what the repair was, I think it is a bad ground wire but I have been wrong before.
The electrical guys will step in here soon.

You may have corrosion build up in rear sockets.

I will check the sockets in the back, as far as the ground sounds like a lot of work to track down.

Nope - just follow the black wire that leaves the lamp socket area, it will attach to chassis nearby. If you like, look in the RAVE at the pictures of locations for ground (earth) points. Here's two of them (E400 and E401)

Don't run it too long on the spare since it's a different size than the rest. It's an all-wheel drive vehicle and you'll eventually be mucking up the center diff. I believe it's no more than 3/16" difference between all four corners. Rotational speed is different.

Just noting.

Also that tire is older then the truck is and has been hanging there since the truck was new. It is most likely dry-rotted and or cracked from exposure.

People have dies driving on old spares. Especially those that bought them used and put them on a vehicle.

There is a huge selection of tires available. It all depends on what your "off-road" conditions are as well. And how deep your pockets are!!!

Do not ignore the important stuff before you take it off-road unless you want to leve it there when it breaks down.
