Dicovery 1 rims
#11
hi Im new here, but not to beadlocks, I run the racing deviation for Raceline off racing.
I read where someone said they are dangerous,
this is not true. a 32 bolt beadlock is way safer then any street wheel.
the only reason way a beadlock is illegal,
is because the laws where written in the 20's saying that a tire lip/bead has to sit between the DOT dot and the side of the rim.
what makes the beadlock wheel illegal is that you are not touching the DOT dot because your tire is on the out side of the rim.

I agree and in some states they wont fine you if you dont have DOT approved rims they will give you a warning "fix it" ticket. However in PA you wont pass safety inspection and I dont feel like getting bothered by the police.. There is a bumper height restriction they they will ticket for and a bunch of other crap. My truck still looks tame compared to a lot of the jeeps around here on 37's-40's. I dont know how they pass inspection.

uhh what? They may hold a bead very well but they are not beadlocks..
THESE are beadlocks..
Finally made these up for my truck - welded ons from Ballistic fab.
You could contact trailworthyfab.com to see if they will do recentered hummer wheels on 5x6.5's they have really good pricing on them thought about going that route before.. CHEAP 37's

It's not a true bead lock unless something is actually clamping the bead.. the inside of rover rims do have a good lip but if you air down enough and hit some hard trails you can still lose a bead.. And for the "poser jeep kind" comment - thats what the majority of bead locks are.. Google image beadlocks or even land rover beadlocks and let me know what you find..
Get out of the rover world and into the 4x4 world every once in a while..
