I did an extensive teardown and repair on mine. I posted some info on another site but that was three years ago, let me do some review and I'll see if I can find a link for you.

Default Found It.

Here is the original write-up I did when I did my CDL Teardown/Rebuild.

Check out the Ex-MOD on the referenced site.

Here's a shortcut to just the pics I took.

As I recall, the first time I actually got it to move side to side, even after all the teardown and reassembly, I putan extension on a speed handle with whatever size socket it was and rotated the nut in the middle of what I call the "Pivot Point" down at the bottom of the linkage right at the transfer case. I was trying to remove the nut, thinking I needed to tear further into it, and attempting to loosen the nut actually moved the shifter from unlock to lock. After working it back and forth a few times, it finally moved smoothly, but the CDL light still would not come on. I ended up having to replace theCDL switch as well. The internal plunger was corroded and the switch failed.

With New Switch and all the linkages lubed well, my CDL shifts " Smooth as Butter".

Take a look at these pics, it's the triangular plate at the bottom of the pics.

Hope that helps.

Do you still have your console out? Look straight down the CDL linkage. It's the nut on the far right in the picture with the little linkage to the longer vertical linkage piece.

I accessed it from the top with a speed handle and long extension.
I don't know if you can get to it from beneath.

I can go side to side on mine...but not up and down...its stuck in 4hi..it will lock in 4hi

can my problem be a solenoid issue? if so can I just take the solenoid out?
