Checked it out with a fluke brand meater and batt has 12 volts and with it running its at 14 and some change so the old meater is no good dodged a bullet thanks for the help

Glad to hear the problem was with the meter and not the Alternator, those Italian MM alternator are a good one. If it does act up, take it to a little old shop that rebuilds alternators.
